Science Exhibition begins on a colourful note

Khammam: By developing scientific temper, the students must lay foundations for new inventions, advised  District Collector R V Karnan inaugurating the  46th Jawaharlal Nehru National Science, Mathematics and Environment Exhibition organised here at Telangana Social Welfare Residential School in Tekulapalli mandal on Friday.

Addressing the students, Karnan said, “according to the Constitution of India, every citizen of India has equal rights and responsibilities. With new inventions in the field of science and technology and with the science fairs, we can get rid of superstitions that are still prevailing in our society.”

Science fairs not only help students to develop scientific temper in students but also enable the teachers to encourage students to invent new things. The students must also observe the exhibits of other school students and interact with them which helps them find new friends, he added,

The students must not get restricted to the district level, they must try to participate in various science fairs along with their exhibits conducted at State and national level and bring name and fame to the district, he suggested.

 District Education Officer Madan Mohan said that around 328 exhibits were displayed in the science fair by the students of various government schools of various categories based on agriculture, organic farming, health, sanitation, natural resources, waste disposal system, transport, communication and mathematics under the supervision of their respective school teachers.

As many as 700 students of various government schools are participating in the fair, he added. Later, District Collector observed various exhibits and interacted with the students. District Medical and Health Officer Kalavathi Bai, Assistant Director of Education Department D Murali Krishna, Regional Coordinator of School K Sharada, School Principal Dhanamma, Women Welfare Officer Vijetha and Mandal Education Officer Srinivas were present.
