Hyderabad: Call it religiosity, superstition or whatever, the who’s who of Indian politics and various sectors of the economy are likely to attend the five-day Maharudra Sahitha Sahasra Chandiyagam to be organised by Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao at his farmhouse in Erravelli village from January 21.

In December 2015, KCR conducted a five-day Ayutha Chandi Yagam in fulfilment of his vow, following the formation of Telangana State. Several important political leaders and dignitaries from various fields had attended the yagam. Common people also could witness it.

After the TRS registered landslide victory in the just-concluded Assembly elections, KCR vowed to perform another yagam. Ahead of the elections held in December 2018, the Chief Minister performed Raja Shyamala Chandi Yagam.

Sources said that Prime minister Narendra Modi, Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu, Governor ESL Narasimhan, representatives of various political parties from across the country as well as bigwigs from various sectors are among the list of special invitees.

As many as 200 ritwiks will conduct the yagam. Pundits from Sringeri peetham Shashanka Sharma and Gopi Krishna have been entrusted with the responsibility for making all arrangements as per the instructions of Sringeri Peetham head Bharati Teertha and Sharada Peethadipathi Swaroopanandendra Swami. KCR met Sharada peethadipathi in Vishakhapatnam recently.
