Tourists to have bird’s eye view of AP
The AP Tourism Department has finalised plans to introduce seaplanes first of its kind in cities of Vijayawada, Kakinada and Visakhapatnam.
Amaravati: The AP Tourism Department has finalised plans to introduce seaplanes first of its kind in cities of Vijayawada, Kakinada and Visakhapatnam. So far, the seaplanes facility is available for tourists in foreign countries only. Now the AP government has initiated to introduce six seaplanes in the State.
AP's new capital location also can be viewed from sky by paying nearly Rs 2,000. The project would be introduced under Public Private Partnership (PPP) mode. Already a jetty for operational purpose is under construction at Bhavani Islands in Vijayawada. The decommissioned Viraat warship would be venue for introducing seaplanes in Visakhapatnam.
In the same way jetty will come up exclusively for this purpose at Kakinada. According to officials, the tourism department is making plans to launch the seaplanes as early as possible. Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu is very keen to provide Seaplanes service for tourists and wants to boost the State image in tourism sector.
Following guidelines from the Chief Minister, the officials of tourism department have speeded up the plans for launching the seaplane services at the earliest. Presently, the Tourism department has started construction of jetty at Bhavani Islands and Punnammi restaurant. The construction of each jetty cost is estimated Rs 2.5 crore.
Punnammi restaurant manager Srinivas said that the construction of floating jetty is expensive. Trail run of seaplanes would be carried on January 12. Every seaplane could carry 40 passengers. Initially, the project may be launched in Vijayawada city and it would be launched in Visakhapatnam. Four seaplanes would be launched at Vijayawada and two planes would be available at Kakinada. The seaplane can take off and land in water.
