Karimnagar: Following State-wide bandh call by students organisations, representatives of various student unions took out a bike rally demanding the government withdrawal of its decision of establishing private universities.

Hundreds of students participated in the rally that began from Arts and Science College to Satavahana University main gate here on Wednesday. Speaking on the occasion, district in-charge of Democratic Student Union (DSU) Janardhan said that many students voluntarily participated in bandh opposing the setting up of private universities in the State.

Instead of bringing reforms and appointing regular Vice-Chancellors in the universities along with providing necessary facilities, the government is trying to sell higher education to corporate companies, he alleged.

The students studying in many universities are facing severe problems due lack of regular teaching faculty along with less number of non-teaching staff.

Even after completion of three years of ruling, the TRS government failed to appoint a regular V-C to Satavahana University, he pointed out. Separate Telangana was achieved due to the sacrifices of many students.

If the government fails to solve the students’ problems, all the students across the State would once again took to streets to teach a lesson to the pink party, he warned.

Student unions JAC president K Bhagya Raj, TVV leader M Sandeep, MSF district president Prabhudev, Ramdas, Karunakar, Venu, Sinivas, Shekar, Satish, Ranjith, Suresh, Sai Raj, Naga Raju, Naveen, Lavanya, Soujanya, Sarika and Mounika were present along with others.
