Jagtial: Two persons from Karnataka - Kavati Ravichandra and Kavati Srikanth – were booked on Thursday for duping Venkateswarlu of Jagtial, with fake gold for Rs 3 lakh of new currency notes.

Superintendent of Police Anant Sharma briefed the media about the incident. According to him, Venkateswarlu had received a phone call on December 9 apparently from the duo, claiming that they had lot of ancient gold, which they would like to offer for a low price of new currency.

Venkateswarlu was satisfied with the sample gold piece showed by the duo and made a deal for 250 gms of gold for Rs 3 lakh over phone. As per the agreement, the duo handed over gold to Venkateswarlu and took the money from him. Venkateswarlu found out that the gold was fake only after checking it at his house. H immediately lodged a complaint with the police.

The police managed to nab the duo after tracking their phone calls. They seized quarter kg gold and Rs 2.8 lakh cash from Ravichandra and Srikanth.The SP appealed to the people not to get duped by such operators, who were active in the area.
