Warangal: District Collector Prashanth Jeevan Patil has directed the government officials and employees in Warangal Rural district to wear handloom clothes once in a week.

On Tuesday, he held a review meeting with the officials of handloom and khadi village board officials to discuss measures to promote handloom products in the district.

The State government has decided to encourage usage of handloom products and hence the officials should make efforts in that direction, the Collector said.

All government employees should ensure that they wear handloom clothes on Monday. On January 2, 2017, handloom clothes mela would be held at the rural district collectorate to help them purchase the clothes, Jeevan Patil said.

Those interested could also purchase clothes from Apco showrooms in the city, he added. Divisional marketing officer M Srinivas, industries manager Hari Prasad, Khadi Village Board Officer Santhosh and others were present at the meeting.

In another meeting with the bankers earlier on the day, the Collector wanted loans distributed to all eligible women groups.

Eligible groups should not be troubled in distributing loans on account of non-paying accounts, who failed to repay their loans.

The Collector suggested that each branch of a bank should adopt a village in promoting cashless transactions.

A base line survey should be conducted to ensure that all villagers above 18 years age opens a bank account which should be linked to Aadhaar and their phone numbers.
