Karimnagar: Principal Secretary Housing Chitra Ramachandran directed the officials to start construction works of double bedroom houses by the end of March.

She chaired a review meeting on the construction of double bedroom houses in Karimnagar, Sircilla, Jagtial and Peddapalli districts with the district administrative officials at the Collectorate conference hall in Karimnagar on Monday.

Addressing the officials, the Principal Housing Secretary said the government is determined to construct houses for the poor, who do not have proper shelter to live in. So the government has taken up the project of construction of double bedroom houses to the needy in the State.

She suggested the officials to appoint one of the senior officers of the district as nodal officer in every district to supervise the construction works so that the scheme can be implemented perfectly in all the districts.

The officials were also told to identify beneficiaries by conducting Grama Sabhas along with identifying suitable place for the construction of 2BHK houses in every district by taking all necessary steps required to complete the works as early as possible by providing the required raw materials.

About 1,462 houses for Karimnagar, 1,050 houses for Peddapalli and 1,415 houses for Jagtial district were sanctioned in the first phase under the 2BHK house project, she said.

There is no scarcity of funds, which will be released well in advance to all district collectors.

District Collectors Sarfaraz Ahmed (Karimnagar) and D Krishna Bhaskar (Siricilla), Jagtial Joint Collector Dr Nagendra, Principal Housing Engineer Eshwaraiah, Road and Buildings Superintending Engineer P Sathish and Executive Engineer Raghava Chary were present along with others.
