Ramagundam: To motivate and encourage people about how to drive safely and educating them to follow traffic rules strictly, 28th Road Safety Week will be celebrated from January 17 to 23 under the Commissionerate limits with the theme of ‘Arrive-Alive’, said Ramagundam Police Commissioner Vikram Jeet Duggal here on Tuesday.

He chaired a meeting with the officials at NTPC, ED centre and explained them how road accidents can be prevented with ART (Accident Resolution Team) by conducting awareness programmes to students along with various sections of people under the Commissionerate limits in various police stations.

Led by the Police Commissioner, a massive vehicle rally was held with 300 people wearing helmets from Ramagundam Commissionerate to Gandhi Chowk distributing roses. Later the Police Commissioner made them to take pledge that they along with their family members will follow the traffic rule strictly to avoid accidents.

Speaking on the occasion, Police Commissioner Vikram Jeet Duggal said that people with their negligent and careless driving are not only harming themselves with accidents but also harming others, who have been following traffic rules.

He also said that the theme ‘Arrive-Alive’ has been chosen to explain how a person leaving from home on vehicle can return safely with well planning and organised way of driving. He urged people, students and representatives of NGOs, who are interested to do social service, can join as Traffic Volunteers and serve in their free time.
