Telangana Cabinet gives green signal to two irrigation projects in Warangal
The State cabinet on Thursday ratified the redesigning of some irrigation projects in the State. Deputy Chief Minister Kadiyam Srihari said the cabinet had cleared a proposal to take up two important projects in Warangal district.

These projects would help to meet the increasing needs of both drinking and irrigation water in the fast growing district.
Srihari said a barrage would come up across River Godavari at Tupakulagudem at the cost of Rs 2,300 crore. The project would provide more irrigation facility in the district.
The Deputy Minister said that a 10 TMC capacity reservoir would be constructed at Malkapur in Station Ghanpur mandal, which will provide drinking water to the people of Warangal Municipal Corporation. The reservoir would be constructed under Devadula lift irrigation project.
Srihari said he had mooted this proposal some time back and after seeking expert advice the chief minister agreed to the proposal and today the cabinet had ratified it.
He said that the Cabinet has approved SC, ST Sub-Plan with necessary amendment and make projects redesigning for more withdrawal of waters by speeding up the works.
Godavari waters will be used by increasing Devadula project capacity to 60 TMC from 38 TMC and spend Rs 1,100 crore to take up its third phase of works.
The Cabinet had focused on various issues pertaining to the State budget, irrigation projects, welfare, Mission Bhagiratha and that of Central one.
As part of Kaleshwaram lift, it was decided to construct reservoirs to increase capacity at Mallanna Sagar, Konda Pochamma Sagar, Gandhamalla and Baswapur, he said.
The Deputy Chief Minister also said the Cabinet gave green signal to upgrade posts of 2,487 language pundits, 1047 PETs as School Assistants and to fill 480 posts for Mission Bhagiratha scheme.
