Warangal: The CPI state secretariat member T Srinivasa Rao demanded the State government to build double bedroom houses in Warangal on the lines of Erravelli village adopted by the Chief Minister, K Chandrashekar Rao in Medak district.

He said the CM, who criticised Congress regime for constructing poor quality Indiramma houses, has promised to build double bedroom houses for all the homeless poor in Warangal during his visit to the city sometime back.

But poor allocations were made to 2BHK houses programme in the recent budget and it displays the government’s commitment to the programme, the CPI leader alleged.

He wanted title deeds be given to selected beneficiaries as per the GO: 58 before constructing the houses.

In support of the demand, the party activists took out a massive protest rally in the streets and staged dharna at Warangal Urban District Collectorate in Hanamkonda on Monday.

The protesting activists have also wanted effective implementation of three acre land distribution
to landless dalits in a time bound manner.

Srinivasa Rao further complained that ever since the BJP-led NDA government came to power at the Centre, attacks on dalits, minorities and progressive organisations have increased.

Yet the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, has failed to act to protect the interests of the aggrieved sections.

The party district secretary S Karunakar speaking on the occasion demanded the government taking up employment generation activities by setting up industries.

Measures to offer profitable prices to red-gram, chilli, turmeric and other agriculture produce should be taken immediately.

The CPI leaders also wanted setting up of railway wagon factory at Kazipet, improvement of facilities at slums in the city and at government hospitals.

Ex-MLA P Saraiah, party leaders Karre Bikshapathi, Panasa Prasad, Sk Bashumiya, M Linga Reddy, Nalla Shravani and others were present.
