Karimnagar: The police officials of Task Force department conducted raids in Housing Board Colony of Kapuwada here on Tuesday and busted a fake pulse racket. They also seized the godown that contained fake pulses worth Rs 5 lakh in the city.

According to the Commissioner of Police, V B Kamalasan Reddy, the accused Peddi Praveen running a shop in the name of Thirumala Traders and indulged in the illegal business of selling fake pulses to retail shop owners across Karimnagar district.

He has been purchasing the fake pulses from one Ashok of Jaipur of Rajasthan. On receiving information, the Task Force officials conducted the raids on Thirumala Traders’ godown and seized about 199 bags that contained fake pulses worth Rs 5 lakh, the Commissioner said.

“By adding colour to the pulses, a few traders are indulging in illegal business of selling fake pulses and other food items to get easy money. People will face health problems if they consume such fake pulses and food items,” the official said.

People should be aware of best quality food items and should not purchase the food products that are available for less prices, he cautioned.

Stringent actions would be taken against the persons, who indulge in selling fake or spurious food items, fake seeds and fake fertilisers, warned Commissioner of Police V B Kamalasan Reddy.

Food Inspector Amrutha Sri, One Town Police Inspector Tula Srinivas Rao, Task Force Officials Kiran and Santosh and others were present.
