Medaram Jatara: TSRTC to operate 4,000 buses
The TSRTC is planning to make it to Limca Book of Records and Guinness Book of Records with its operations during the Medaram Sammakka Saralamma Jatara-2018.
Hanamkonda: The TSRTC is planning to make it to Limca Book of Records and Guinness Book of Records with its operations during the Medaram Sammakka Saralamma Jatara-2018.
It is being planned to operate 4,000 buses to transport about 44 lakh devotees during the jatara, the Corporation Managing Director G V Ramana Rao told presspersons in Hanamkonda on Friday. In addition to that about 450 buses will also be kept standby to meet the rush.
‘This is a biggest exercise. During the main days of the jatara, we will transport nearly 2.61 lakh people in a single day by operating 3,300 trips. Per hour 11,000 passengers will be transported with an hourly frequency of 450 buses. This is a feat worth entering into record books,’ he noted.
This year the State government has allocated Rs 2.45 crores towards jatara arrangements. A detailed plan of action is being drawn for the purpose and to ensure better amenities for the passengers, the official said.
This year an additional route is added to connect to Sironcha in Maharashtra. There will be a total of 23 routes connecting all the districts in the State including Hyderabad and places outside the State.
CCTV cameras will be installed at temporary RTC bus stands to be set up at Medaram along with a control room to monitor the bus movements and passenger traffic. Similarly, large sized LCD screens will be set up to entertain the passengers, Ramana Rao revealed.
During this jatara, air-conditioned bus services will be offered from Warangal and Hyderabad. The devotees have to book their tickets in advance. Hire service will also be offered if the devotees want to hire the buses to travel to Medaram in groups.
Ramana Rao, who held a meeting with senior officials on Friday to review the arrangements, said the officials, supervisors and workers are asked to make collective efforts to make the jatara operations a success.
Referring to Vajra mini-AC buses introduced by the corporation, he said the service is meant to ensure end-to-end connectivity for the commuters. Nearly 75, 000 people have downloaded the App, specially designed for Vajra service.
Initially it is aimed to ensure cashless-online transactions in booking the tickets. But based on the public feedback, Vajra bus drivers are allowed to issue tickets on board. This has led to increased occupancy, Ramana Rao noted.
TSRTC Warangal Regional Manager T Surya Kiran, Executive Directors M Ravinder and G Satyanarayana, Joint Director Venkata Rao and Chief Civil Engineer Mary Sunethra were present at the press meet.
