Hanamkonda: Demanding the government release of Nukala Mahesh, state president of Telangana Vidyarthi Vedika (TVV) and Kranthi, whom the police arrested in Osmania University, Hyderabad, the representatives of various student unions burnt an effigy of the government at Adalat Centre in Hanamkonda on Wednesday.

Speaking on the occasion, Democratic Student Union (DSU) district president Amruth Raj alleged that the government was trying to suppress those, who were questioning the government’s anti-people’s policies. He criticised thaat the government was negligent towards providing basic facilities to students from school to university level and in welfare hostels.

The government was not even appointing teaching staff, he added. Till date the government had not issued scholarships to the students of previous year. If anyone questions about all these issues, the government is adopting anti-student policy and arresting the students illegally along with those intellectuals, who are supporting the students, he pointed out.

Separate State was achieved due to the sacrifices of students and it was undemocratic to arrest the students, who were requesting the government to solve various problems existing in educational institutions of government sector, he observed.

The government must understand the problems being faced by the students and must take immediate steps to solve them. Otherwise, students across the State will start a massive movement to teach the government a befitting lesson, he warned.
