Govt misused Sec 151 of Cr PC: TJAC chairman

Expressing serious displeasure over the arrest of leaders of the TJAC and other people’s organisations in the wake of protests called by the JAC, he said the section 151 of Cr PC was meant to arrest persons to prevent commission of cognizable offences.
“Is the State government treating the TJAC leaders and its supporters are criminals? The government is denying permission to stage protests even though we stage protests in a peaceful manner,” Kodandaram lamented while speaking to presspersons in Hanamkonda on Friday.
Giving the details of a public meeting titled ‘Koluvalakai kotlata’ (fighting for jobs), he appealed unemployed youth and students to attend the meeting to be held by the JAC in Hyderabad on October 31 in large numbers.
He hoped that an application submitted to the police seeking permission would be hounoured. If the police fail to give permission the JAC would approach the High Court to get the permission to conduct the meeting.
Supreme Court in its directions had clearly upheld the democratic right of staging protests on public issues. But the government was trying to suppress such rights, Kodandaram complained while referring to denial of permission to conduct Telangana Amaraveerula Spoorthy Yatra in Warangal and Nizamabad.
The October 31 meeting in Hyderabad is aimed at putting pressure on the government to deliver its election promise of providing jobs to one lakh unemployed youth in the State. The government had also made a made a statement in the Assembly in that connection, he stated.
There were over two lakh jobs vacant in various departments but the government failed to issue notifications to fill up them. Nearly 300 statements were issued by TRS government on conducting the DSC but nothing happened so far.
As a result, the job aspirants were committing suicide. The struggle for separate statehood was taken up for funds, water and jobs. Due to the vacancies employees in various departments were under great work pressure and government functioning was being affected.
TJAC district chairman Ch Rajendra Prasad, convener Ch Prabhakar, coordinator Dr A Ashok Reddy, state co-convener B Bikshapathi and others were present.
