A series of guest lectures by experts on a variety of topics are going to enlighten students at the 12th edition of annual technical fest, Technozion’17 of National Institute of Technology, Warangal (NITW).

The fest will be inaugurated on Thursday at 6 pm and the three-day events will follow on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Shantha Biotechnics Founder and Chairman Dr K I Varaprasad Reddy, District Collector Amrapali Kata and the institute Director Prof N V Ramana Rao will take part in the inaugural.

The theme for this year’s fest is ‘Alquimia’ while the tagline is ‘Transforming ideas to innovation’. In all 47 events such as workshops and paper presentations, 14 workshops, eight guest lectures by experts and 10 spotlight events are scheduled, the fest student coordinator Piyush Kashyap informed.

Retired scientist and Director Electronics and Instrumentation group at BARC, PadmaShri Chandrakant Pithawa, Silicon Valley Technocrat, motivational speaker and Pioneer of Outernet Technology Siddharth Rajhans, TCS Vice President and Chief Scientist Narayana GPL, developer relations team leader at Salesforce India, Rajdeep Dua and engineering team head Sriram Dinavahi, Large Hadron Collider researcher Atul Gurtu, corporate-academic researcher Praveen B Malla are among those who will deliver guest lectures.

The NITW Registrar K Laxma Reddy and Dean (students welfare) Prof S V S Ramana Reddy said the fest has become a tradition at the institute for the past 12 years aim at infusing the technological happenings and aspects into the minds of the future generations.

Efforts are on to make the event a grand success this year. Startup expo and Makeathon are the newly added spotlights this year. Workshops on app development MATLAB, photography and ethical hacking will be organised, he added.

The faculty coordinator Prof Deva Pratap said events like Wreckage, avion-e, thrust, contraptions, witricity, hovermania, code debugging, electronic debugging, bio-mimicry, electrocution and others will be held. Around 10, 000 students from engineering colleges across the country are expected to take part in the event, the oraganisers said.
