Mahabubabad: The onus lies on the teachers in schools to lay a strong base of science enabling students to develop a passion for science, suggested Joint-Collector K Damodar Reddy. The base laid at school-level could help the students to develop the skills at college and university-level, he said addressing science teachers at a workshop on ‘Bridging the gap between theory and practice’ at Gade Rukma Reddy Memorial High School in Mahabubabad. The workshop was organised by Indian Association of Physics Teachers (IAPT) Telangana Regional chapter (RC -22) with a focus on textbook concepts in physics light chapters and hands on experience on electromagnetism, electricity by experts, concerning high school syllabus, said a release here on Tuesday.

The IAPT Telangana president V Rajeshwar Rao said the aim the workshop was to upgrade the level of physics teaching and mobilise the talents and resources of teachers in the national perspective. Experiments could be a good teaching method not just for physics, but for all science subjects.

The workshop coordinator V Gurunadha Rao said around 40 teachers of across the district attended the workshop. The workshop witnessed number of activities, and beneficial exchange of teaching methodologies informative activity based expert sessions. Senior physics professor and Principal of BV Raju Institute of Computer Education, Bhemavaram, Ch V Srinivas and Bhanu Prakash MS from the US were key resource persons at the workshop. They broadened the frontiers of scientific knowledge by touching upon various hands-on activities. The participants were given certificates participation, the release added.
