Karimnagar: Jammikunta police and Task Force officials nabbed a five-member gang that circulates fake Indian currency, in Karimnagar on Wednesday. Presenting the persons before the media, Commissioner of Police V B Kamalasan Reddy said that the accused - identified as Devarakonda Raj Kumar (29), Syed Rehman (22) and Chennamaneni Manohar Rao (25), residents of Mancherial district; Durgam Kranthi(19) and Pramshetti Sharath Chandra (22), resident of Jammikunta – had formed a gang and has been circulating fake Indian currency of Rs 2,000 denomination since few days.

The gang came to Jammikunta to circulate and exchange fake notes in the cotton market. Acting over a tip off, the police officials reached the spot and nabbed all the five members. They seized Rs 6.58 lakhs from their possession and a car. A case under Cr.No.297/2017 U/s, 489 (B) and (C) and 109 IPC has been registered at Jammikunta police station and the accused would be produced before the court, the Commissioner of Police informed.
