Hanamkonda: Demanding immediate release of their leader Manda Krishna Madiga, the Madiga Reservation Porata Samithi (MRPS) activists staged a novel protest by fastening their hands with strings at Amaraveerula Stupam here on Thursday.

Speaking at the protest, the MRPS spokesperson Manda Kumar Madiga criticised the State government for arresting their party founder Manda Krishna Madiga, who has been fighting for the categorisation of Scheduled Castes.

He said that despite their request to stage hunger strike protest between January 1 and 5, the Director General of Police M Mahender Reddy didn’t give the permission. Moreover, the government sent 1,500 police personnel and arrested Manda Krishna, who sat on a hunger protest in the party office.

This indicates the dictatorial rule of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, he stated. He criticised the TRS government for not taking an all-party delegation to Delhi in order to exert pressure on the Central government to take a favourable decision on SC categorisation.

Stating that the arrest of Manda Krishna was nothing but bulldozing the rights of people, he said that people will teach KCR a fitting lesson in the next elections. Velpula Veeranna, Putta Bikshapathi, B Surender, J Sathish Kumar, Manda Chinna Raju, R Kiran, B Rajender and E Prasad were among others present.
