Six persons were killed and several others injured in separate accidents on national highway (NH) 163 in the district on Friday. In the first incident that took place at Raghunathpalli, a mini-bus carrying about 20 devotees to Medaram and a car coming from Medaram collided with each other during early hours. Two persons of a family in the bus were killed along with the driver of the car.

Jangaon: Six persons were killed and several others injured in separate accidents on national highway (NH) 163 in the district on Friday. In the first incident that took place at Raghunathpalli, a mini-bus carrying about 20 devotees to Medaram and a car coming from Medaram collided with each other during early hours. Two persons of a family in the bus were killed along with the driver of the car.

The deceased were identified as Sattamma (60) and her daughter-in-law Jinigesh Shivarani and the car driver M Raju (23). The driver of the bus M Narendar suffered injuries along with six others on the bus and two persons in the car.

The injured were rushed to local government hospital for treatment. According to the police the accident occurred due to rash driving of car driver Raju. He rammed the car into the mini bus while trying to overtake a vehicle before him.

The mini bus driver moved the vehicle to left but car dashed the right portion of bus which tumbled down the road in the process. The Commissioner of Police G Sudheer Babu rushed to the spot immediately and monitored the rescue operations.

In the second incident occurred at around 4 pm at Nidigonda, a head on collision of a goods container and a car resulted in the death of three persons identified as Vellivelli Durga Devi (68) and her husband Vellivelli Subba Rao (72), a retired lecturer of CKM College and the car driver Abed (28).

The car was going to Hyderabad from Hanamkonda while the container lorry was coming to Jangaon from Hyderabad. The car driver moving at high speed overtaken a vehicle hit the container. Due to the impact of the collision the car caught fire and was reduced to rubble. The local police rushed to the spot and cleared the traffic.
