Warangal: Rs 13,445 crore worth Devadula Lift Irrigation Scheme, which is aimed at irrigating 10 lakh acres, is a vital component in the development of Telangana, Deputy Chief Minister Kadiam Srihari said.

Conducting a review meeting here on Sunday, he said that the government has so far spent Rs 9,250 crore. Stating that only 10 per cent of the phase-2 works have to be completed, he told the officials to speed up the land acquisition process so that the phase-3 works could be taken up.

He said construction of 18 reservoirs is already completed.He directed the officials to make it sure to fill the Ramappa lake by completing pipeline works before September end. “The upcoming Lingampally reservoir with an outlay of Rs 3,220 crore is huge boon for the farmers in Warangal,” he said.

The 10.78 TMC Feet water capacity reservoir will also quench the thirst of Warangal and the project works will be grounded in the second half of the August by the Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, he said. Devadula LIS chief engineer K Bangaraiah and superintending engineer Sudhakar Reddy were among others present.
