Health and Hygiene kits scheme launched by Minister Kadiyam Srihari

Warangal: Deputy Chief Minister Kadiyam Srihari said that the State government had been spending Rs 20,000 crore per annum on education. The Minister launched Balika Aarogya Raksha (Health and Hygiene) kits scheme and distributed kits to the students of Telangana State Residential School for Girls & Junior college in an event at Hasanparthy on Friday.

“The government will be spending Rs 1,600 towards each student, from Class VII to Intermediate, and Rs 100 crore annually on distribution of the kits. In all, about 6 lakh girl students of the State-run educational institutions across Telangana will be benefitted,” he said. He stated that the scheme is a first-of-its-kind in the country. 

It may be mentioned here that the kit will contain 13 products - Patanjali bathing soap, detergent soap, Dabur coconut hair oil, comb, shampoo, toothbrush, toothpaste, tongue cleaner, Eyetex facial powder, sanitary napkins, sticker bindis, nylon ribbons and hair bands.

He said that Telangana has become a beacon of development and stands apart in education, health and other sectors. The government is providing quality education to five lakh odd students through gurukul schools besides providing fine rice and non-vegetarian food, he said while referring to the increased enrolment in State-run schools. 

Directorate of School Education Commissioner T Vijay Kumar said that government had been laying special emphasis to raise the standards of the education apart from providing required infrastructural facilities. 

The Deputy Chief Minister also inaugurated additional classrooms and hostel rooms on the occasion. Wardhannapet MLA A Ramesh, Farmers Debt Relief Commission chairman Nagurla Venkateshwarlu, Telangana Residential Educational Institutions Society (TREIS) secretary A Satyanarayana Reddy, Joint Collector S Dayanand, Regional Joint Director of School Education Joint Director P Rajeev and DEO K Narayana Reddy were among others present.
