Folklore still alive in peasant songs: Collector
District Collector Anitha Ramachndran on Monday said that the culture and traditions are still alive and exist in the form of folklore and is very much found in the songs sung by peasants while doing work in agriculture fields
Bhongir : District Collector Anitha Ramachndran on Monday said that the culture and traditions are still alive and exist in the form of folklore and is very much found in the songs sung by peasants while doing work in agriculture fields.
She was speaking at the World Folklore Day jathara celebrations held at Ravi Bhadra Reddy Gardens in Bhongir on Monday. She said that the Cultural department is conducting the folklore celebrations across the State and as part of it.
‘Palle Suddulu’ and folk songs have great significance in the rural India, she said. To carry forward the art forms of folklore to the next generation, the government has been conducting folklore celebrations in every district of the state.
She remembered that previous generations used to enjoy the whole night with Burra Kathalu and Oggu Kathalu. On one hand the State government has been giving new lease of life to the Telangana based folklore, on the other, it has been providing pensions to all eligible old age artistes.
Meanwhile, the artistes took out a huge rally from Government Junior College to the Ravi Bhadra Reddy Gardens. The audience enjoyed the cultural programmes presented by the folklore artistes.
DRO Mahender Reddy, leaders of artistes Associations Sanjay kumar, Mukundam, DPRO Venkatesham and large number of artistes were present on the occasion.
