The hugely popular Freedom Hyderabad 10K Run is back in the city with a bigger and larger canvas this time around. The countdown for 15th edition of the event, slated for November 26, began in the city on Friday after IT Minister KT Rama Rao unveiled the official T-shirt and medals at an impressive function.

Hyderabad: The hugely popular Freedom Hyderabad 10K Run is back in the city with a bigger and larger canvas this time around. The countdown for 15th edition of the event, slated for November 26, began in the city on Friday after IT Minister KT Rama Rao unveiled the official T-shirt and medals at an impressive function.

The Minister praised the organisers for doing more than their bit in bringing about a changed mindset among the people, who today show an enthusiastic streak in participating in the Run that can also help in ushering a qualitative well-being. This year’s campaign theme ‘#ReasontoRun’ is aimed at bolstering a new-found motivation among men, women and children besides the fitness freaks.

According to Race Director, Murali Nannapaneni, the race will be flagged-off at People’s Plaza and cover the distance all around Hussainsagar Lake, and culminate at People’s Plaza.The race will have three primary categories, including Elite 10K Run, Open 10K Run with Timing chip and Open 5K Run. The first is exclusively for professionals who have timed 36 min (men) and 45 min (women) in the last one year of 10K run participation. He said that with close to 12000 runners likely to participate on the big day, the response has been overwhelming and stands as a tribute to the professional manner the event is conducted year after year.

Those keen on participation can register at Eventsnow.com. Registrations close on November 22. Suresh Babu, Director of Hyderabad 10K Run Foundation, P Chandra Shekhara Reddy, Vice-President (S & M), Freedom Refined Sunflower Oil, Partha Biswas, COO, Act Fibernet, and representatives from Lalithaa Jewellery Mart Pvt Ltd graced the occasion.
