There’s a saying in Telugu “as the flower blooms it spreads it’s fragrance”. This can be aptly attributed to the gifted girl Madhavapeddi Pratibha. Grandchild of the eminent, legendary singer Madhavapeddi Satyam and the only daughter of the famous dancer Madhavapeddi Murthy, Pratibha excels in her life not only as a dancer but also the youngest yoga teacher of the Isha Foundation of SadguruJaggi Vasudevan.

Pratibha formerly learnt Bharatanatyam from the Guru Anita Guha before beginning to learn Kuchipudi. She performs with her father’s troupe and also has given performances along with her Bharatanatyam Guru in many places in India, Canada and UAE.She has performed in various places and earned a lot of accolades from the connoisseurs.

She has taken part in the Mamallapuram Festival, Natyanjali at Chidambaram, Vellore Golden Temple, Narada Gana Sabha, Brahmotsavam at Tirupati, Kharavela Festival at Bhubhaneswar, Global Summit 2017 at Visakhapatnam, Horizon seriesfor ICCR, Chennai and very recently at the prestigious Konark festival, Odisha.

She joined the five months course in Hatha Yoga Teacher Training program from Isha Foundation, Coimbatore. Her mother Subha has completed her MSc in Yoga Sciences from Madras University when Pratibha was still a child.

In times when parents are persuading the children to take up some money earning career, the Murthy couple have encouraged their kid to learn Yoga. Pratibha excelled in learning the Hatha Yoga and has completed some very difficult courses with her perseverance and determination.

She is now the youngest teacher of Yoga in Yoga Bandham in Chennai. As she did not wish to join any regular college, but wants to do a degree, her father enrolled her in the distance learning school of Madras University. She is now pursuing an Graduation in Medical Sociology from the University of Madras.

A rare gifted child of a legendary family of Madhavapeddis, who belong to the Brahmana Koduru village near Tenali (AP), when asked, which one gives you more satisfaction is it dance or the yoga teaching, she immediately answers “both equally”. And adds, “It’s not only yoga and dance. I love singing and exploring new things, and I write a little and have a passion for cooking”.

She shares, “My generation has so many challenges to face and I feel there are a lot of options to be explored in which we are losing our real happiness and peace and the clarity of taking decisions. With my efforts if I can contribute even a small step in bringing out a healthy and peaceful attitude in my peers, I will feel my life is fulfilled. I do not only want to confine to dance and yoga but want to explore more fields.

I revel in writing too. I believe whatever we do teaches us something. In treading one path we learn many things.” This charming young lady with a clear vision and pursuance stands exemplary to the present youth.
