Tadepalligudem: ‘Anybody, irrespective of their background, can benefit from book reading. This has been proved true with the recent example of an ordinary person becoming an extraordinary personality in Chinthakindi Mallesham, a sixth-class dropout. Mallesham took pity on his mother toiling hard for over eight hours a day manually hand weaving Pochampalli sarees and singlehandedly like the legendary ‘Ekalavya’ struggled hard to study mechanics, embedded systems, etc. from the books.

He came up with a useful electronically operated mechanical device thereby replacing the human drudgery apart from not only bringing smiles into several weaver families’ lives with six times more improved productivity. In the process, he also got himself recognition with many awards as well as Padma Shri this year’, said JNTU Kakinada nominated Exams Observer and VISIT HOD- MBA Prof. K.V. Satya Prakash.

He was the Chief Guest at the function of National Library Week Celebrations held in Tadepalligudem’s engineering and management college West Godavari Institute of Science and Engineering (WISE).

‘WISE’ Vice- Chairman K.V. Rama Rao, who presided, called upon all faculty and students to fully avail the library facilities for their own development as well as growth both in their careers or lives. Librarian Suresh, who welcomed the gathering, stated that under RACE, a number of events for students were organised with the help of faculty members.

The uniqueness of it all was to make people Read, Reading Competition was organized apart from team contest to foster creativity/ innovations Announcements/Slogans designing, then to stress the need for writing in exams or anywhere else Copy-Writing mode was also resorted to and similarly, in order to highlight the need for expression Elocution/ talks were also arranged so as to bring out the best for awarding prizes out of these activities.

While students Jyothi, Swapna, Jhansi, Rajani, Vijayasri, Pavan and Padma Rao won due rewards for excelling in the above, Jhanvi, Sunitha, Hanumanthu as well as Ganesh strived hard in conducting the programme.
