Hyderabad: Indian School of Business (ISB), in partnership with Ministry of External Affairs, organised the maiden edition of Deccan Dialogue focusing on the theme ‘Economic Diplomacy for Development’.

Inaugurating the conference, General (Dr) V K Singh (Retd), Minister of State for External Affairs, Government of India, stated that through economic diplomacy instruments we must take advantage of India’s demographic dividend and enable global movement of people, which will cater to the manpower needs of the countries with aging populations. He also opined that “economic diplomacy can strengthen the manufacturing sector, which is the most stable part of any economy”.

K T Rama Rao, Minister for Industries & Commerce, IT&C, MA&UD, Government of Telangana, in his special address talked about the need for economic diplomacy to create more jobs. “The governments across the world are facing the biggest challenge of creating more jobs and which can be addressed through economic diplomacy. MEA must undertake a Resource Mapping Exercise tapping the strengths of various states and market it accordingly in various economic diplomacy platforms”.

In his address, Srini Raju, Member, Executive Board, ISB opined that India has a very vibrant software Industry segment but unfortunately a week electronic industry segment. “It is like whatever we earn from America, we give it to China”.
