MLA Bajireddy's wife has tested positive for coronavirus, five days after her husband admitted to hospital due to coronavirus infection. Reddy's wife was tested negative last week. However, she was kept in isolation as she is one among the MLA's primary contacts.

The health authorities performed the tests again on Thursday and her reports turned positive. Currently, she is undergoing treatment in a corporate hospital.

Nizamabad urban MLA Ganesh Gupta who was also infected with the virus was suspected to have contracted the virus from Bajireddy. Three MLAs in Telangana state have infected with the deadly virus. At first, Jangaon MLA Muthireddy Yadagiri Reddy along with four others including his wife, gunman, cook and driver tested positive for the virus.

At present, there are 2,531 active cases in the state including 352 new cases reported on Thursday. While the total number of coronavirus cases in the state jumped to 6,027.
