The 80th Convocation of Osmania University will be held on 17th June after a gap of six years.
Hyderabad: The 80th Convocation of Osmania University will be held on 17th June after a gap of six years.
Eminent scientist Prof. S. Chandrasekhar, Director, Indian Institute of Chemical Technology and an alumnus of Osmania University in the Department of Chemistry will be the Chief Guest, will deliver the convocation address and confer the degrees.
All the Ph.D. degrees and PG/M.Phil/ Ph.D gold medals will be presented at the Convocation.
Candidates, who passed the examinations between July, 2012 and June, 2018 only are eligible to apply for their degrees for the forthcoming convocation in June. However, candidates who obtained their Ph.D. degrees up to 11-6-2019 will also be given their degrees.
Eligible candidates are advised to visit the Osmania University website( www.osmania.ac.in) to register and pay the fee online from 16th May, 2019. The last date for submission of online applications for Ph.D. candidates is 11-06-2019
The last date for candidates of PG/UG/Dip./M.Phil. programmes (including those offered by Autonomous Colleges and PGRRCDE is 31-05-2019. Such candidates will not be conferred their degrees in the convocation ceremony.
The candidates who do not register for the Convocation will have to obtain their degree certificates in absentia.
The candidates who have already taken their degree certificates, in absentia, are not eligible to apply. If they do so, the fee paid will not be refunded.
However, UG Degree Gold Medals will be awarded at respective colleges after the convocation. Degree certificates of candidates who have passed the PG/UG/Dip./M.Phil. programmes in regular mode in the University/Affiliated/Autonomous Colleges shall be sent by post. Candidates who cleared their exams through the PGRRCDE will also receive their certificates through post
Data indicates that during the period 2012-2019, 2896 scholars were declared eligible for Ph.D degrees. Out of total 2896, scholars, 1800 have already taken their Ph.D degrees in absentia. Also, about 300 candidates will receive gold medals.
Governor of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh E. S. L. Narasimhan, and all the officials of Osmania University will attend the convocation.
