Aarya Synopsis: Aarya (Sushmita Sen) is the wife of pharma giant Tej Sareen (Chandrachur Singh). Theirs is a happy family with three kids. Tej isn't a clean man in his business but when it comes to his family life, he's a doting father and an ideal husband who has given them all the luxuries in life. So just when Aarya thought she had it all perfect, herlife is turned upside down when a masked man guns down her husband in the presence of their youngest child (Adi), who is traumatised by this incident. Now, Aarya who till now had nothing to worry about, is determined to go all out to catch the culprits. She takes it upon herself to bring them to book. How she manages to do that forms the crux of the story.

Aarya Review: The latest Sushmita web series Aarya is a remake of the successful web series Penoza which was released a decade ago. The best thing about the series is that the crime thriller plot begins in the very first episode. However, as the case unfolds, the urgency which was seen to keep the viewers engaged right in the first episodes, loses steam. A few scenes are unnecessary and could have been avoided. Even as Sushmita tries to dig into family rivalry, business foes and other such details to find out the motive for murder, it kind of slows down and you tend to be distracted as the clues are not gripping enough to keep you engrossed. The screenplay could have been crisper.

After the first episode, it takes another three episodes more for the plot to get your attention in this 9-episode web series on Hotstar Special, Aarya. Sushmita's role reminds us of her act in the Bollywood thriller Samay in which she played a cop. In Aarya, Sushmita dons several hats homemaker, a doting mother and then an investigator and she pulls off each character with ease and also stands out. Another actor who stands out is Chandrachur Singh. Even though he's making a comeback after a long time, he has not lost touch with his craft as he excels in his role.

Verdict: Sushmita Sen is back with a bang and how! Go watch it for her.
