108 APSRTC buses brought on to the roads in Kurnool district

Kurnool: As the state government gave its clearance to ply Road Transportation Corporation (RTC) buses, 108 busses were brought into service in the district on Thursday.

The Regional Manager, T Venkataraman said that all buses have been well sanitised including bus stations.

The passengers are advised to wear masks without which no one would be allowed into the bus. The passengers were also arranged sanitisers inside the bus.

Each bus capacity is 50 but it was reduced to 30 keeping a seat blank to maintain social distance between the passengers. After a gap of 54 days, 108 busses from 12 depots have been operated. Nearly 1,200 passengers have utilised bus services.

On normal days around 850 buses of the 897 used to ply across the district and a minimum of 20,000 people would be travelling in the buses, stated the Regional Manager.

He further said that five buses have been made ready to operate from Kurnool to Vijayawada. Reservations to these buses were also completed.

Presently the buses are being operated within the state and are likely to start operating to other cities like Hyderabad and Bangalore if the government gives green signal to run services, stated the RM.
