Amaravati: US Consul General, Hyderabad, Joel Reifman responded positively when Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy urged him to set up an US incubator centre at Visakhapatnam.
The US Consul General met the Chief Minister at his camp office here on Tuesday along with two other officials. He said that they visited Visakhapatnam and expressed satisfaction with the facilities available there. Reifman said that they are ready to set up a hub in Visakhapatnam and added that one such hub was functioning at Ahmedabad at present.
The Chief Minister assured to provide necessary infrastructure facilities for the incubator centre.
Seeking cooperation of US for development of Visakhapatnam as smart city, the Chief Minister said that English medium was introduced in schools and planning to train the teachers in regional English language centre at Delhi.
The Chief Minister appealed to US Consul General to come forward for investments in the State. He said that there is vast coastline and the state government is focusing on investments in ship building and electronic industries.
Joel Reifman praised the decentralisation of administration through village and ward secretariats and direct cash transfer to the beneficiaries of various welfare programmes. He praised the role of State government in handling Covid-19 pandemic.
