Karthika month fervour begins in Andhra Pradesh, devotees flocks to temples

With the arrival of Kartika month from today, all the Shiva temples are busy with devotees with cancellation of bathing at temples due to covid regulations. The Vijayawada Durgamma temple will be decorated with bangles today. As it is the first Monday of the month of Kartika, the Shiva temples are echoed with Shivanamasmarana. Devotees lined up from early morning to visit the Pancharama Kshetra Sri Ramalingeswara Swamy in Palakollu of West Godavari district and performed special pujas following the rules of covid while women light Kartika lamps after Swami Darshan.

Devotees performed holy baths on the first Monday of the holy month of Kartika on the banks of the Godavari and chant Shivanamasmarana. The devotees are flocking to the temples of Rajahmundry Sri Umamarkandeya Swamy and Kotilingeswaraswamy to pay their respects to the Swami and lined up for darshans at the Kumararama Bhimeswaraswamy Temple in Samarlakota from dawn to dusk. Devotees rarely attended the Godavari baths with covid.

On the other hand, devotees are flocking to Bhimeswaraswamy Darshan, Draksharamam, Ramachandrapuram Mandal, East Godavari District. Karthika was honoured on Monday and a small number of devotees came to the darshans in accordance with the covid rules. Minister Venugopala Krishna visited Bhimeswara Swamy on the occasion of Karthika month. Shiva temples in Samarlakota are jam-packed with devotees during the month of Kartika in Peddapuram, East Godavari district.

Karthika fervour started at Sri Chalukya Kumararama Bhimeshwara Temple. The first puja will be held with the family names of the Maharaja of Pithapuram and later devotees will be allowed to visit. In Visakapatnam, devotees flocked to the Shiva temples and worshiping Lord Shiva with devotion.
