Chandrababu Naidu extends support to agitation against uranium mining in Guntur

Guntur: TDP supremo N Chandrababu Naidu expressed solidarity with the agitation taken up against the uranium mining. He addressed a meeting of the party leaders at the party state party office in Guntur city on Friday.

Speaking on the occasion, he said that uranium mining began during the regime of former Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy in Kadapa district. He criticised that five villages have been facing worst situation due to uranium mining and added Nallamala forest area will face the same situation.

He said that agitation against uranium mining was gaining momentum in Kurnool district. But Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy had failed to respond on the issue, he said.The TDP expressed solidarity with the all-party meeting held at Allagadda against uranium mining.

Naidu criticised the government for its failure to retrieve the boat capsized in River Godavari even though 20 days had passed. He questioned why the government did not order judicial inquiry into boat tragedy. He demanded that the government should conduct a judicial probe. He pointed out that the government did not pay salaries to 80,000 outsourced employees.
