Collector Dr Siri chats with anganwadi students on Tuesday

Kurnool: District Collector Dr. A. Siri conducted a surprise inspection of the Anganwadi centre and the Zilla Parishad High School in Devanakonda on Tuesday, issuing key directives to ensure improved nutritional and educational standards. She instructed Anganwadi staff to provide nutritious food strictly as per the prescribed menu and maintain high levels of cleanliness. Interacting with the children, the Collector enquired about their meals and expressed satisfaction over the hygiene at the centre, advising staff to uphold the same standards consistently. She also reviewed the kitchen facilities and directed staff to check the quality of eggs upon delivery and ensure regular supply of milk to all children.

During her visit to the school, Dr. Siri emphasised the need for achieving 100 per cent results in the upcoming Class X examinations. Encouraging students to study with discipline, she highlighted the importance of following teachers’ guidance to secure academic success. The Collector interacted with the students to understand their learning environment, including teaching quality, meal standards, and any issues they wished to bring to her notice.

Inspecting the school kitchen, the Collector questioned the preparation of only a small quantity of ragi malt. On learning that few students consumed it, she instructed staff to prepare adequate quantities and encourage broader consumption among students. After tasting the midday meal, Dr. Siri expressed dissatisfaction with its taste and directed the Mandal Education Officer to intensify inspections to ensure hygienic and tasty meals. She also instructed the Headmaster to strictly follow the menu while maintaining quality and cleanliness in meal preparation.
