Anantapur: District Collector S Sathyanarayana has flagged off the Fit India rally here as part of a nationwide campaign initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the lines of Swachh Bharath, here on Thursday.

The Collector accompanied by MP Talari Rangaiah, Joint Collector Dilly Rao, Municipal Corporation Commissioner Prashanthi and several district officials called for promotion of physical fitness.

A physically fit nation will also be a health disease free nation, he added. Rangaiah said that the Prime Minister's call for a Fit India involves inculcation of fitness in every sphere of life. He stated that as part of the national movement, awareness campaigns in schools through rallies, contests, cycle rallies and marathon walks, health check-ups and sports events were organised.

The campaign revolves around physical fitness and mental well-being and health eating habits. Joint Collector Dilly Rao also spoke. Large number of students, NCC and NSS volunteers participated in the rally.
