All temples and Churches appear empty in Kadapa

Kadapa: In response to the call given by prime minister Narendra Modi over coronavirus to implementation of Janata curfew, all business establishments, market places, hotels, tea stalls, cinema Theatres, RTC bus stands remain closed since wee hours of sunday.

Roads in Kadapa city, commercial centers like Prodduturu, Badvel, Mydukur, Rayachoti deserted with the people voluntarily confined to their homes. Vehicular traffic on Kadapa- Bombay National highway, Kadapa- Bangalore National Highways appears to be empty as the lorrys, containers, big vehicles were seen in large numbers parked besides the road.

Railway stations in the places like Kadapa, Yerraguntla etc were also deserted.

Priests have performed daily activities in the noted temples like Devunikadapa, Sri kodanda Ramaswamy temple in Vontimitta, Veerabadhra Swamy temple in Rayachoti, Polatala sri Mallikarjuna Swamy temple in Pendlimarri etc in a traditional manner without attendance. Temple premises were seen empty following restrictions on entry of pilgrims.

Despite sunday is a auspicious day for Christians for offering prayers in the churches, they were totally closed following call given by prime minister for Janata Curfew. Only Pastors were seen offering prayers in the churches.

The APSRTC which is transporting around 3.5 lack passengers every day to different destinations across Kadapa region incurred Rs 1.03 crores loss on sunday according to the Kadapa RTC regional manager T. Jithendranath Reddy. He said operations of services would be restored after 9:00 PM to long distance and other places in the district.

However emergency services like hospitals, medical shops, milk and curd vender shops were remain opened at various places. Staff of Medical and health department were seen sanitizing streets and garbage was removed at various places by municipal staff.
