Coronavirus: One person admitted in isolation facility in AP: Health department announces

Amaravati: A person is admitted in isolation facility, who has been suffering from the symptoms of the Novel Coronavirus (2019-nCoV) in Andhra Pradesh, informed KS Jawahar Reddy, Special Chief Secretary, Health, Medical and Family Welfare department. He released a Health Bulletin alerting the public on Coronavirus on Monday, in which he revealed the facts related to the virus in the State.

World Health Organization (WHO) has declared the recent Novel Coronavirus epidemic affecting 23 countries as International Public Health Emergency of International Concern.

In this context, AP State has strengthened the surveillance and control measures against the disease, he informed.

The Bulletin explained that "Till date, 29 travellers from Corona affected countries have been identified and placed under surveillance, out of which 28 are under home isolation and 1 is admitted in an isolation facility".

"Till date, no samples have been sent as none of them have symptoms. The hospital authorities have confirmed that the health condition of traveller admitted under isolation in hospital does not have severe symptoms and was under observation", Jawahar Reddy explained.

A 24x7 State Control Room has been set up in the State, he informed. Isolation wards are being set up in all government general hospitals and district hospitals.

In the background of the present Coronavirus outbreak, the general public is advised to adhere to health advisories issued by the State Government. The public should follow the cough etiquette by covering the nose and mouth using a handkerchief, towel while sneezing, coughing.

Do frequent hand washing with soap and water. Those who have arrived from the corona affected countries should remain under strict home isolation for 28 days from the date of arrival in India, irrespective of whether they have the symptoms or not. They are advised not to have close contact with other family members, allow any visitors, go out to public places. If anybody develops symptoms like cough, fever, difficulty in breathing, put on a mask and contact the nearest government health facility or call the 24X7 Control room.
