Eye donation awareness programme held

Kakinada: An awareness programme was organised by Kakinada Eye Foundation under Badam Balakrishna Eye Bank here near the Boat Club here on Thursday, as part of National Eye Donation Fortnight from August 25 to September 8.

On this occasion, secretary of the foundation Ch Surya Rao explained in detail about the process of the donating eyes. He said the eyes (cornea) of dead person could be donated within six hours of his/her death.

He asked the general public to create awareness on eye donation as this gesture will provide eye sight to two persons. On this occasion, some locals have come forward to give their consent for eye donation and the eye bank staff collected letters from them.
