Kurnool: 5 hurt in YSRCP-TDP group clash

Kurnool: Five persons sustained grievous injuries when two groups belonging to the YSRCP and TDP clashed with each other with sticks over cultivation of land in Gorantla village police station limits on Wednesday.

In the incident, one suffered critical injuries and all the injured are being treated at Kurnool Government General Hospital. According to sources, some villagers belonging to YSRCP were cultivating 14 acres of endowments land belonged to Veerabhadra Swamy temple on lease.

With the ending of lease agreement of YSRCP cadre, the land was taken on lease by TDP men. The people after tilling the land have sown seeds and they have also sprouted. This was not digested to the people of YSRCP men and they forcibly tried to enter land with tractors to destroy the crop planted by the TDP men.

One Tirumala Naidu of TDP has lodged a complaint with the Kodumur police in this regard. Acting on the plaint, the police rushed to the spot and thwarted the attempt of YSRCP men on Tuesday night and gave a stern warning. But on Wednesday, the YSRCP men returned with a large number of their supporters and entered into the land and destroyed the crops.

Tension prevailed in the village when both TDP and YSRCP men clashed with each other with sticks. In the attack four persons, Raju, Giddaiah, Paramesh and Naidu of YSRC suffered head injuries and Giddaneswarulu of TDP got leg fractured and was in a critical state, according to sources.

Speaking to The Hans India, Kodumur Sub Inspector P Mallikarjuna said the TDP men has taken the land on lease after the end of lease agreement by YSRCP men.

They have cultivated the land and sown the seeds also. But the YSRCP people have forcibly entered the land and tried to destroy the standing crop. This has resulted to attack on each other. Fiver persons have suffered injuries and all were shifted to KGH for treatment. A case under 324 IPC was filed based on the complaints lodged by both parties. The case is under investigation, stated the SI.
