Kurnool: Suspected covid-19 case registered at KGGH

Kurnool: First suspected coronavirus case been registered at Kurnool Government General Hospital on Thursday. The patient was admitted at quarantine ward and her blood sample was sent to virology departments in Tirupati and Pune.

According to Additional District Medical and Health Officer (Addl DMHO), K Venkataramana, recently a 61-year-old woman, Margaret, resident of B Camp in Kurnool was admitted at the isolation ward on suspicion of having coronavirus.

She had come to Kurnool from Jordan and after coming here she was suffering from cold, cough, breathlessness and fever. Based on the symptoms she was admitted at the quarantine ward for treatment. The blood samples have been sent to virology laboratories in Tirupati and Pune for confirmation, said Venkataramana.

He further said a resident of Budwarpeta in the town also had medical check-up for coronavirus. He had come to his hometown from China where he was working as an engineer. His blood samples were found negative for the virus and he was not admitted in the hospital. So far 16 corona suspect cases were registered at Kurnool General Hospital.

They have been under doctor's care for a period of 14 days later they were discharged. They will be under home isolation for some more days, he said.

The District Revenue Officer (DRO), Bejjam Pullaiah who has been appointed as nodal officer for Covid-19 told The Hans India that they have taken every care to combat the deadly virus. Recently a woman, Margaret, resident of B Camp was admitted at the isolation ward. We are striving to create awareness among the residents where Margaret is stationed to take precautionary measures, said Pullaiah.

District Collector, G Veera Pandiyan had visited Orvakal on Wednesday and held campaign with ward and village volunteers to infuse awareness among people.
