Man kills one-month-old daughter; arrested

Cherla (Bhadrachalam): In a brutal incident, a father has allegedly killed his one-month-old baby girl by drowning her in a water container at Regunta village of Cherla mandal in Bhadradri Kothagudem district.

According to reports, accused identified as Adapa Surya Teja performed love marriage with Akhila a couple of years ago and they had a girl child a year ago.

Akhila conceived for the second time and gave birth to a baby girl a month ago. Teja who was reportedly upset with his wife giving birth to a girl again took the extreme step and drowned the baby in a water container.

Akhila questioned her husband when she could not find the child in bed in the morning hours and Teja told her what he had done.

After hearing that she alerted their neighbours who tied Teja to a tree. On receiving the information, local CI Satyanarayana visited the village and took the accused into custody and booked a case against him.

The deceased baby was taken to Bhadrachalam Area Hospital for post-mortem.
