NABARD sanctions Rs.1931 crore loan to APWRDC to complete Chintalapudi lift irrigation project

AP seeks assistance from NABARD for setting up 10,778 specialised community hiring centres

National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) sanctioned Rs.1931 crore term loan under the NABARD Infrastructure Development Assistance (NIDA) to Andhra Pradesh Water Resources Development Corporation for completion of Chintalapudi Lift Irrigation Scheme in West Godavari and Krishna Districts respectively.

The Scheme covers 410 villages of 15 Mandals in West Godavari district and 18 Mandals of Krishna district. The project is envisaged for lifting of 53.50 TMC of flood water of River Godavari in 3 stages to provide irrigation to 4.80 lakh acres of ayacut during Kharif season.

The project also creates a reservoir capacity of 14 TMC at Jalleru for providing drinking water facility to 26 lakh population in surrounding villages of the project area. "The project is expected to be completed by March 2022," said Shri S.Selvaraj, Chief General Manager, NABARD, AP Regional Office.
