Nellore: Minister Anil Kumar Yadav said Focus on shifting migrants to other States

Nellore: Minister for Water Resources Dr P Anil Kumar Yadav said that they had shifted migrant labourers to Bihar from the district and now contacting the administrations of West Bengal, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Jharkhand for shifting the stranded workers at various industries in the district.

He addressed at a review meeting here on Saturday and said still there were 74 Muslims in Delhi who attended for Tablighi Jamaat and asked the officials to make arrangements for shifting them to Nellore.

The Minister also said there were many students who were preparing for bank competitive examinations in Kurnool district and stuck there due to lockdown.

He asked the officials for transportation plans. As per protocols, all these people need to be sent to quarantine for 14 days after they reach the district.

Anil Kumar appreciated efforts of the district administration saying the number of Covid-19 cases reduced gradually. He said the laboratory for testing the suspected cases would be ready within two days where there would be a facility for conducting 300 tests per day.

District Collector M V Seshagiri Babu said many people from other States were working in various industries in the district and they would make arrangements for shifting them to their native places. Recently, around 1,200 people of Bihar have been shifted through a special train.

The Collector explained that a huge number of Covid-19 cases were reported at the Koyambedu vegetable market in Chennai and consequently they were also conducting tests on the attendees from the district. He said they were identifying the traders and truck staffers for conducting tests. He also explained that they were reducing the volume of vegetables from the Koyambedu market for preventing any infections and simultaneously taking measures for local consumption of vegetables grown in the district.

SP Bhaskar Bhushan, DRO G Mallikarjuna, Municipal Commissioner T Bapi Reddy, ZP CEO P Suseela and others were present.
