Bhimavaram/Tanuku /Kakinada: Cash transfer is in reverse flow in Andhra Pradesh whereas elsewhere in the world it flows from the government to the people, said members of Andhra Pradesh Urban Citizens Federation (APUCF) while addressing the people as part of the Pattana Praja Bheri which has been travelling throughout the State to bring awareness among people over the unjust and outrageous municipal laws recently passed by the State government in the Assembly.

Adressing the gathering in the coastal towns of Bhimavaram, Tanuku and Kakinada in the two Godavari districts on Monday, APUCF convenor Ch Babu Rao demanded that the draconian municipal laws, which would burden the people in the cities and towns, should be repealed immediately.

"It is improper on the part of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy to enact laws without any democratic discussion," he said.

The members of APUCF collected signatures in Bhimavaram, Tanuku and Kakinada as part of the mobilisation of public opinion against the municipal laws which would impose several hundreds of crores of taxes on people.

Babu Rao said that it was against the Constitution to decide the taxes by the Centre to be levied in the municipal bodies. He decried that the municipal bodies have been turned into commercial bodies.

He demanded immediate repeal of the municipal laws by convening the Cabinet meeting.

Announcing that a massive agitation would be launched from January 6, Babu Rao appealed to the people to protest against the municipal laws irrespective of the party affiliations.
