Security beefed up at Assembly: cops to follow Covid-19 norms

Assembly Speaker Tammineni Sitaram, Council Chairman Shariff Mohmmad Ahmed along with Ministers reviewing security arrangements for the assembly session with police officials in Amaravati on Saturday 

Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh Assembly Speaker Tammineni Sitaram and Legislative Council chairman Shariff Mohmmad Ahmed while reviewing the security arrangements on the Assembly premises with the top police officers here on Saturday in view of the forthcoming Assembly and Council session from November 30, told them to arrange fool-proof security scrupulously following the Covid19 guidelines.

Speaker Sitaram told the police officers in particular to be respectful towards the MLAs and MLCs who are attending the session from November 30. "They should show restraint while discharging their duties." He asked in detail the security arrangements.

Intelligence officer on special duty (OSD) Sasidhar said that a series of meetings was already held on the security arrangements and the rehearsals with the convoy of the Chief Minister and other VIPs were conducted. He said that in view of the corona pandemic, tests were conducted to the security personnel of the VIPs and the police personnel before assigning them duties in the Assembly.

Guntur Rural SP Vishal Gunny said that a route map has already been prepared and parking slots for the ministers, the MLAs, the MLCs were identified. Strict security measurements would be in force in and around the Assembly premises to prevent agitations and anti-social activities.

Finance minister Buggana Rajendranath Reddy said that traffic should be controlled near the Assembly, particularly on the opening day and the closing day. There should not be any hindrance to the convoy of the Chief Minister, he said. Assembly chief whip Gadikota Srikanth Reddy, Intelligence additional DG K Rajendranath Reddy, law and order additional D G Ravishnkar Ayyanar, SPF commandant K N Rao, Vijayawada police commissioner Battina Srinivasulu, Guntur range IG Trivikrama Varma, Guntur Urban SP Anji Reddy and other officials were present.
