Vijayawada: It seems that there is a split in Jana Sena and CPI alliance in Vijayawada city. Jana Sena has announced the candidates for Nuzvid MLA seat and Vijayawada MP seat on Saturday night against the spirit of political alliance with the CPI.

Indeed, the CPI was allotted Nuzvid seat at first under the electoral alliance with Jana Sena. CPI leadership announced its district party secretary Akkineni Vanaja as its candidate. Later, Jana Sena cancelled the seat by compensating them with Vijayawada Parliament seat.

The CPI leadership also accepted the proposal and announced noted advocate Chalasani Ajay Kumar as MP candidate from Vijayawada. The advocate reciprocated and made arrangements to file papers on Monday. But suddenly, Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan announced his party candidate Muttamsetti Prasad for Vijayawada MP seat.

The CPI cadre was shocked following the development. They felt unhappy and expressed ire against the Jana Sena leaders and also the CPM leaders. Indeed, the CPI requested Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan to give chance to contest from Vijayawada West constituency. The CPI candidates won in the West constituency in the past. But the Jana Sena leadership convinced them by offering Nuzvid and Vijayawada MP seats.

Finally, now the Jana Sena announced its candidates for these two seats much to the chagrin of the CPI leaders. In this backdrop, the CPI convened a special meeting of its State council on Sunday. They initially decided to field the candidate from Vijayawada West constituency by taking into consideration its strength and past record.

CPI city secretary Donepudi Sankar said that they would contest from Vijayawada West constituency. He said that the Jana Sena did not take into consideration their strength. He also said that the Jana Sena is not following the alliance dharma.Meanwhile, advocate and CPI leader Chalasani Ajay Kumar fumed at Jana Sena leadership. He said that he was ready to file papers after making necessary preparations.

CPI district secretary Akkineni Vanaja said that the leadership of the party was seriously discussing about the ongoing developments. She said that the CPI leadership is yet to take a decision since the party is continuing alliance in other constituencies in the State.
