Sports events to mark Children's Day begin in Vijayawada

Vijayawada: As part of the Children's Day celebrations, various events connected to sports commenced for the students of Municipal Corporation High Schools at the Indira Gandhi Municipal Corporation stadium here on Tuesday.

Regional Fire Officer in-charge Uday Kumar was the chief guest of the programme and formally inaugurated the sports event. Speaking on the occasion, Uday Kumar said that sports help students in building a competitive spirit which would bring out creative skills and talent to transform them as good sportspersons.

Deputy Educational Officer Srinivas Rao said that they have been organising a three-day sports meeting to the students of municipal corporation students from Class VI to Class X. Various sports like volleyball, throw ball, kabaddi for boys and throw ball, kabaddi, tennikoit and others were being organised for girls.
