TDP completed only 20% works: Minister Anil Kumar Yadav

Polavaram: Minister for Water Resources Dr Anil Kumar Yadav flayed the TDP for propagating in a section of media that the State government had given a clean chit to the erstwhile TDP government on the allegations of corruption in the Polavaram project construction.

Addressing the media here on Monday after visiting the villages that would be submerged under Polavaram project, the Minister said that in fact the Centre claimed that it had not received a report from the State government on the corruption in the Polavaram project. "Once the report was prepared the quantum of corruption by the TDP leaders in the Polavaram project works would come out," he said.

The State government appointed an expert committee to calculate the corruption in the Polavaram project and the committee is yet to submit the report, he said. "The Centre replied to social activist Pentapati Pulla Rao that it is yet to receive the report from the State government," he pointed out.

He recalled that the CAG pointed out that Rs 300 crore corruption took place in Pattiseema works.

He assailed former Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu stating that he was lying about the completion of the works of Polavaram. "In fact, only 20 per cent of the work was completed whereas the TDP was claiming that it had completed 70 per cent of the works," he pointed out stating that the TDP spent Rs 17,000 crore on the project out of the estimated cost of the project of Rs 55,000 crore and how could it be 70 per cent of the project.

He exuded confidence that the YSRCP government would complete the Polavaram project and Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy would inaugurate it during the present tenure. He recalled that the State government had already saved Rs 800 crore by opting for reverse tendering.

Referring to the RR package, the Minister said that 17,000 families would be rehabilitated at a cost of Rs 33,000 crore before completing the cofferdam by the end of July or the first week of August.
