Vijayawada: 'Parivartana' programme yields good results

Vijayawada: Transformation (Parivartana) programme initiated by Krishna district superintendent of police M Ravindranathbabu to educate the villagers to quit the manufacturing of arrack, is giving fruitful results as the youngsters are quitting the profession of manufacturing of country made liquor and have been opting for other professions. Nearly 170 youth from the villages in the mandals of Kruttivennu, Chatrai and Bantumilli with qualification from 10th standard to diploma, degree and PG courses have got job opportunities in the companies like Kotak Mahindra, Hero Honda, Kia motors, e-commerce express etc in the job mela conducted by the District police in association with the private companies in Machilipatnam on Wednesday.

Representatives of the companies offered jobs after conducting interviews and the youth may start new lease of life henceforth.

Scores of families living in these mandals have pledged to shun making arrack and decided to engage in other professions to eke out livelihood. Recently, these families have handed over the vessels and other materials used for making arrack to the police. They have made pledge in the presence of the district superintendent of police M Ravindranathbabu to quit making liquor. The police too are conducting meetings with the villagers and been trying to motivate them to choose other professions.

Transport Minister Perni Nani visited as the chief guest for the job mela and handed over the appointment letters to 170 youth, who were selected in the interviews conducted by the companies.

Speaking on the occasion, Nani suggested them to start a new life and try to achieve their goals. He praised the efforts being made by the SP and the Krishna district police to educate the villagers on the ill-effects of consuming country made liquor and indulging in the profession of making arrack. He congratulated the youth and wished them good luck. SP said Parivarthana is giving fruitful results and hundreds of families in the district particularly in the remove villagers are coming forward to quit the profession of making arrack. He thanked the representatives of the companies for visiting Machilipatnam for conducting job mela and selecting 170 educated youth to provide jobs and livelihood.

Special Enforcement Bureau additional superintendent of police Vakul Jindas, Bandar RDO Khaja Vali, DSP Dharmendra, Bandar DSP Mahaboob Basha and the police officials from Kruttivennu, Chatrai, Nuzvid, Bntumilli and other mandals attended the job mela. The youth delighted to secure jobs and thanked the police and the representatives of the companies for giving job opportunity.
