Andhra to witness heavy rains for next two days amid low pressure in Bay of Bengal

The Amravati Meteorological Department said on Saturday that low pressure had formed in the Indian Ocean and its adjoining south-central Bay of Bengal due to surface periodicity. It said it was heading towards the southwestern Bay of Bengal and was likely to turn into severe low pressure in another 24 hours. It will strengthen further in the next 24 hours, said Stella, director, Amravati Meteorological Center. It is reported that it will then move west-northwest towards the Sri Lanka-South Tamil Nadu coast and reach the Tamil Nadu-Puducherry coast on November 25.

With this heavy rains are expected in many parts of Rayalaseema and the coastal areas in Andhra Pradesh on November 24. On November 25, heavy rains are expected in many parts of the state. On Monday, it was reported that it will rain in one or two places in South Coastal areas and Rayalaseema districts.

Farmers are concerned with warnings from the Meteorological Department that the low pressure will strengthen and turn into an air bubble. They have already been severely damaged by the unseasonal rains and their condition is said to be indescribable if it rains again during the cotton and paddy harvest season. The Visakhapatnam Cyclone Warning Center has forecasted strong winds along the coast from Monday. It warned that the fishermen should not go for fishing in the sea.

Fishermen who have already gone fishing are advised to reach the shore. On the other hand, the meteorological department said that there will be scattered light to moderate rains in the next two days due to the effect of eastern winds coming from the sea. Meanwhile, dry weather prevailed in the coastal and Rayalaseema areas on Saturday. Night temperatures were below normal in some places with winds.
